Bold 'n' Steig
Dr.Hofmann
Ecnelis
Bassamagic
Lausanne.
Toto Blanke: guitar
Joachim Kuhn: Fender piano
Siggi Busch: bass
Pierre Courbois: drums, percussion
Jeremy Steig: flute, piccolo flute, bass flute. Daring fusion of free jazz and progressive rock, played by the Dutch-German cult quartet with exceptional US flute player Jeremy Steig as a guest on their last LP, recorded live. Originally released on MPS in 1974. Unique gatefold cardboard packaging.
This free-jazz set features the 1970s Dutch group Association P.C. performing with the percussionist Pierre Courbois and the flautist Jeremy Steig. The ensemble plays a freewheeling set that uses traditional jazz structure as much as avant-garde music as a launching pad for its often thrilling explorations. Steig shines on the lyrical flute and keyboard duet "Bold `N Steig," "Ecnelis" is a free-for-all funk outing, and the playful "Serpentine" features some magically empathetic improvising.
One of my favorites..
