Si Django Reinhardt nos hubiese dejado nada mas que estas 48 grabaciones, su reputación como un genio de la guitarra todavía sería igual que hoy día. El primer disco de este CD doble se centra en el 1936 y 1937 grabaciones que hizo con su soulmate musical Stephane Grappelli y su grupo el Quintette de la Hot Club de Francia. Estas no fueron los primeras grabaciones del Qunitette, pero fueron los mejores.
