  1. The Baddest Hubbard

Baddest Hubbard or goodest Hubbard -- whatever you prefer, the set's a great sampling of Freddie's incredible work for the CTI label during the early 70s! The album only features 4 tracks, but for CTI, Freddie was cutting them so long, that's the only way you could go -- as his freewheeling approach to soul jazz really pushed the boundaries of the genre while he was working at the label. Includes the long original version of "Red Clay", plus the classic funk track "First Light", and mellower tunes "In A Mist" and "Here's That Rainy Day".

Freddie Hubbard (70) passed away peacefully in a coma after heart stroke he suffered earlier this winter. A great artist may be gone, but his work of art becomes immortal.
