  1. As much as I really love the first Batacumbele recording (Con Un Poco de Songo), I equally love this one. All of the tunes swing, and Jerry Medina sings his you-know-what off!! Giovanni Hidalgo always shines on anything he does, as do the rest of the outstanding musicians in this group. Batacumbele truly brought the word (and the concept) of songo to a broader audience, and they did it without watering down the original!" (Rebeca Mauleón 96/97 Catalog)
"Puerto Rican based Batacumbele played a jazzy style of songo. There's something for everybody here. The rhythm section is dense but because of the high production quality of this recording you can hear everyone clearly. Definitely a 'monster band' with musicians such as 'Cachete' (percussion), Giovanni Hidalgo (congas), Anthony Carillo (bongos), Papo Vasquez (trombone).
